The DX10 is a passive direct box. Unlike an active direct box, it requires no power supply by batteries or mains. Just wire and forward!
An ID is mainly used to transform an asymmetric signal with a high ohmic value into a low ohm symmetric signal. These signals can then be sent to a mixer and processed, over greater distances and without noise.
