BBT (walnut)
With a classic Dreadnaught outline that stays true to Taylor values of design, build quality, and playability – the BBT, a baby guitar for the big kid in all of us – not only looks good but sounds great. Built to be taken wherever you go and withstand the rigors of the road, long jam sessions and the stage spotlight, the Big Baby Taylor, with Walnut back and sides framing a crisp Sitka spruce top - is the largest of Taylor's travel guitar series and the ideal choice for the player seeking the dreadnought experience without the sheer body mass that comes with. A slick maple neck, smooth action and assertive projection make this the ideal choice for beginners and seasoned road warriors alike.
Big Baby
The biggest of our small bodies, the Big Baby is just shy of a full-size guitar.
Big Dreadnought tone and volume in a portable package.
- 15/16-size Dreadnought
- Arched back for added strength
- Great for all playing styles
Slightly bigger than a Baby Taylor but just shy of a full-size guitar, the Big Baby Taylor is ideal for easy-playing, great-sounding guitar fun. The overall size keeps you in the “portable” category, yet with an extra dose of volume and fullness. Like the Baby, the Big Baby has an arched back that provides strength and contributes to its big tonal output.
The Baby Taylor’s upsized sibling is nearly a full-size Dreadnought (15/16 scale) that yields a more robust voice. It’s another great option as an affordable starter guitar, and its layered wood back and sides make it a resilient, travel-friendly companion for all kinds of players.
Layered Walnut
Layered walnut’s rich brown hues lend Taylor acoustic guitars a pleasing aesthetic warmth. Taylor's layered wood construction, built to withstand tests of climate and humidity - features three wood layers, a central core of poplar with a vibrant walnut outer veneer, resulting in a clear tone and durability that will keep you playing through the years.
Walnut
Though better known and more widely used as a back and side wood, walnut also offers a distinctive musical flavor as a soundboard wood. Its physical density and stiffness are akin to Hawaiian koa, generating a similar natural compression effect when used as a top wood that results in a smooth, balanced attack. Players will notice crisp trebles and a woody, warm low-end response that matures and grows richer with time and playing. Walnut generates a bit more presence in the midrange than koa, providing some of mahogany’s dryness and focus in the center of the tonal spectrum balanced by a touch of overtonal texture similar to rosewood.
